The LIBio (Claire GAIANI) is pleased to share a newly published perspective paper in Nature Microbiology pointing out how few (!) clinical studies on probiotics and prebiotics have reported on background diets of study participants. To address this gap, the paper outlines recommendations on the design, conduct, and reporting of future probiotic and prebiotic clinical trials. This work was managed by Kevin Whelan and Maria Marco. It was a great pleasure to work closely with :

  • Maria Marco (University of California, USA),
  • Kevin Whelan (King’s College London, UK),
  • Margaret Alexander (University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA),
  • Genelle Lunken (University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada),
  • Stephan Theis (BENEO-Institute, Obrigheim, Germany),
  • Heidi Staudacher (Deakin University, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia),
  • Andrew Holmes (University of Sydney, Australia)
